Put sugar and syrup in a pan and bring to the boil, stirring all the time. Boil for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and stir in the soda quickly until it froths. Pour into a well-greased tin and cool. Break up when cold and store in an air-tight jar.
